Cardi B Faces Backlash after Admitting to Drugging, Robbing Men As A Stripper

Cardi B may have gone too far in describing the lengths she went to for financial survival.

In an Instagram Live video resurfaced over the weekend, the Grammy-winning rapper said she drugged and robbed men when she worked as a stripper, according to outlets.

Defending the job as a means of getting by, the “Bodak Yellow” performer said angrily:  “I had to go strip, I had to go, ‘Oh yeah, you want to fuck me? Yeah, yeah, yeah, let’s go to this hotel,’ and I drugged n*****s up and I robbed them. That’s what I used to do.”

The remarks prompted a fierce backlash on social media. Some noted that she may have incriminated herself. Others said the behavior was all in the past.

The rapper later posted a defense of the resurfaced clip, writing that she “talked about things I had to do in my past right or wrong that I felt I needed to do to make a living. ... Im apart of a hip hop culture where you can talk about where you come from talk about the wrong things you had to do to get where you are.”

Cardi B has kicked back at critics who, according to the rapper, have questioned how hard she’s worked even as she has ascended to the top of the hip-hop world.

The Grammy-winner defended her past actions as being something she felt she “needed to do to make a living.”

She’d never claimed “to be perfect” and “made the choices that I did at the time because I had very limited options,” she wrote, adding that “I have a past that I can’t change we all do.”

Cardi B’s reasoning, however, was not received well by the majority of people on Twitter where the #SurvivingCardiB hashtag continued to trend:
